FAA Safety Analytics Win
September 2005 - OST was chosen to build a complex text mining tool. Using a team of top-notch specialists in aviation safety and computational linguistics, OST was awarded a contract to build an aviation safety thesaurus that will enhance automatic text mining of FAA, National Transportation and Safety Board (NTSB), and Aviation Safety Reporting System safety reports. The discovery of aviation safety trends through automatic text mining, enhanced by OST's Safety Analytics thesaurus, has the potential to enable the FAA to identify and prevent causes of airplane accidents.

NASA 1800 Space Group
August 8, 2005 - During each summer for three years through 2005, OST provided contributions and processional staff time to a space camp for Queen Anne's County Schools in Maryland. The space camp was designed to stimulate children, at an early age, to pursue technical careers. Through a number of outreach mechanisms (e.g. multi-week summer camp, school visits, etc), OST has supported 1,800 children through this program.

June 2005 - OST has opened an office in Uniontown, PA to perform management consulting, design, engineering and integration work related to the aviation and defense industries. The office will also include OST's nationwide back-up data center and support testing and integration activities.

OST Receives Contract to Support the Department of Defense in the Pentagon
May 2005 - OST was chosen to support the Defense Staff by providing management consulting services in the form of expertise in Data Strategy Implementation and Business Modernization Support.

May 2005 - OST is part of one of the winning teams for the Naval Sea Systems Command's SeaPort II effort. The four-year, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract provides for R&D support, prototyping, acquisition logistics, modeling, test and evaluation and engineering support for the Naval Sea Systems Command, Naval Air Systems Command, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command, Naval Supply Systems Command, Military Sealift Command, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Strategic Systems Programs and the Marine Corps.
The total value of the support contracts for this effort could reach $10 billion. This contract will help the Naval Surface Warfare Center and the Naval Undersea Warfare Center with systems engineering, acquisition management, and technical and programming support, integrating efforts in 12 core product areas:
- Force-level warfare systems
- Ships systems
- Surface ship combat systems
- Littoral warfare systems
- Strategic weapons systems
- Ordnance
- Undersea warfare command and control systems

DHS / FEMA Win
April 2005 - OST was awarded a large, multi-million dollar, multi-year competitive contract to modernize the FEMA's business processes and IT systems. The National Flood Insurance Program Systems Engineering and Management Support or “ NextGen ” project involves implementing a comprehensive technology and process modernization effort addressing insurance and mitigation activities for FEMA.
